Free health screenings for GATS attendees at Landstar’s Health & Wellness Pavilion
When: Thurs-Sat I Aug 25-27 Where: Landstar Health & Wellness Pavilion
Drivers are the backbone of the trucking industry, and a healthy workforce equals a healthy industry.
The importance of driver health can be seen even in recent news trends about driver safety and working conditions.
For example, The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has faced criticism over a lack of clear-cut guidelines for medical examiners on screening for and treatment of the sleep apnea condition.
This comes after last year’s FMCSA’s motion that drivers use agency-approved examiners for their evaluations. Additionally, CDLs have been updated to provide certification of successful medical examinations.
Attempts to ease this process have been made by industry trade groups and associations. For example, the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association responded to the recent compliance mandate by offering drivers a resource site to help them prepare for the mandated DOT physicals and medical exam.
The Great American Trucking Show has taken this one step further. We know how valuable a clean bill of health is to drivers in order to keep their jobs, maintain a long quality of life and ensure their family has peace of mind.
This year, GATS will feature a variety of free health screenings. They are also offering cooking, fitness, and educational demos, as part of the Landstar’s Fit for the Road Health and Wellness Pavilion.
Additional screenings are being offered, from body mass index to kidney function, drivers are sure to have all the information you need before you schedule your DOT medical exam.

GATS wants to do our part in helping the industry thrive and be in great health. You’re family after all, right!?
